As a member of St John Ambulance my plan (with the agreement of our National Headquarters) is to wear my uniform whilst on the plinth, speak a little about the origins of our organisation and then to talk about simple first aid skills and the life-saving priorities. I intend to demonstrate both basic principles and essential techniques such as resuscitation.
I am passionate about the importance of first aid training and believe this would create an opportunity to publicise that the necessary skills are easy to learn, can be taught in little time and that in this case a little learning is better than none. My membership of St John Ambulance gives credibility to my knowledge and experience, whilst wearing the uniform on the plinth enhances this authority and publicises our community involvement.
