I bring people in communities together to form choirs to build their confidence, self esteem and teamwork, to recognise their creative gifts and talents and empower them through learning new skills in singing and performing. My business is "Crescendo,"and I am passionate about the therapuetic power of singing.
I am a singer and I teach performing arts in schools in the Liverpool and Merseyside regions, at present at St Laurence's RC Primary, Kirkby, St William of York RC Primary, Thornton and St Cuthberts High School St Helens as part of my business "Crescendo". As a fellow of the School for Social Entrepreneurs in Blackburne House Liverpool, I am in the process of working as a singing therapist with Alzheimers patients and stroke survivors to enhance language and memory recall and hoping to conduct clinical research as how this actually works and it's benefits for the NHS in terms of the health and wellbeing of patients. I am training the children in my schools to act as mini therapists with me to encourage inter-generational and community contacts.
I have a lovely teenage daughter called Kathryn. We both love Gormley's work and often walk amongst his statues at Crosby Beach and have been to his exhibitions at the Tate. It would be an honour and very exciting to be part of his project, to actually be a piece of live art, a real piece of work!!! I would hope to entertain by singing and by talking from the plinth. I am not shy!!! After all I am a scouser!!!
Thanks for reading this and for this wonderful opportunity.
Cheers, Bernie x
