I'm a 65 year old, third generation Londoner, and amazed to have won the draw. With only 24 hours notice, I won't have time to prepare much, but will probably read a couple of my poems, and talk about the book I'm reading right now, "Real England" by Paul Kingsnorth - it's very compelling - everyone in England should read it. My granddaughter Harriet is staying with us this week, while she does work experience at Union Dance in the Charing Cross Road. We were early on Monday, and came to Trafalgar Square in time to see the second plinther. We thought it such a brilliant idea, and I entered on the spur of the moment - never thought I'd get a place. Trafalgar Square means so much to me: I've been coming here all my life. I fed pigeons here as a child, marched here, been arrested here, eaten lunch, sunbathed, had assignations here, and am enchanted at the idea of taking part in this project
