I'm doing this partly in memory of my mother Jean, who would have been thrilled I'm here 'cos she found this kind of art an exciting and unique type of "happening", and partly for my daughters, who are never surprised at the things I want to do, and partly for my (yet to be) grandchildren, so they can say "Look what Grandma did!" And I'm definitely doing it for ME so that, whatever I do or don't do on the plinth, I can say "I was there".
I've been ill the past couple of years and see this experience as a way to regain a chunk of myself that's been mislaid in that time.
I have no idea, yet, what I will be doing with my hour - but whatever I decide it will be MY hour, and mine alone, literally. As one of my daughters said... "Art or embarrassment ? You decide."
Update on 29th August - only 3 days to go... follow this to see what I shall be doing with my hour - http://www.deafsign.com/ds/index.cfm?scn=newsdetail&newsID=1319.
