On a very cold day in February I went to Formby Sands and saw the installation of Another Place. This had a powerful affect on me and opened my Soule up to new ideas and emotions that I didn’t think could exist just staring at a bunch of metal figures standing on sand or in water looking at ships. Since then I have been very interested in the idea of mans place in the universe and the way we interact with each other and the world around us. This is starting to all sound all arty farty artistic clap-trap really I am just a bloke who enjoys a bit of art now and again. The idea of travelling 250 miles to stand on a tower for an hour sounds as good as a lottery win to me. Mind you all my friends think I am potty. I haven’t really decided what I am going to do on the plinth but I am sure I would not what to cheapen the experience by trying to wave some political flag or other or whore myself to a to local radio station. I think I would like to go back to the idea of Formby Sands and explore the idea of what it is like to be the metal man standing in the sand and watching the ships sale past on a cold winters day .
Many thank, John preen.
