I always try to do at least one thing a year that is completely different and does some good somewhere. I have done half marathon walks, and the G8 poverty march in Edinburgh, as well as singing in a 'peoples choir' in Chester Cathedral at Christmas with Graham Kendrick. To stand on the plinth for one hour seemed like a good challenge for this year. I will be sponsored to raise money for Fanconi Hope a charitable trust set up by parents of children with Fanconi Anaemia. Fanconi Anaemia is a rare genetic disorder affecting young cildren, causing bone marrow failure, necessitating bone marrow transplantation, with a very high risk of leukaemia and subsequent head and neck cancers.
I will be dressed from head to toe in bright yellow, carrying a yellow sunflower since I am a founder member of SCABS [Sunshine Constantly Around Britain Society] which has been in existence for over 20 years now. 'The sun is always shining, even when it might not be. Rain is merely falling to ensure that we don't get too hot - in fact its not rain at all, its sweat! I could bore you for hours, but our merry band has been responsible for all the good weather we get during the summer -never mind the Met Office - rely on a SCAB!
As well as being a SCAB I am a Christian who believes that Jesus wants us to bring the light of his love to as many people as we can - one good reason for being happy!
