I heard about the project through one of my Twitter friends, so I'd like to use my hour to demonstrate the benefits of web technology. By using Twitter, I can communicate not only with the people who are physically in the square (if there are any at 6am!), but with anyone around the world. Plus, unlike talking to just one person on the phone, I can talk to many people at once! I'll be encouraging people to contact me during my hour using the Twitter hashtag #catnipplinth (my Twitter name is @catnip). I may even take requests from people to do simple tasks, such as drawing or miming while on the plinth.
Please add your Twitter names to this profile page as part of a pledge or comment. Perhaps I could aim to get the most comments/pledges to show the power of 'word of web'.
If I can get a couple of new people using Twitter from this, that would be brilliant. Sign up at twitter.com. To contact me while I'm on the plinth type @catnip followed by your message in the 'What are you doing?' box. There is a basic guide to Twitter at www.jonbounds.co.uk/blog/536/twitter-beginners-guide.
I would also like to take the opportunity to let people know about some of the great things that are happening in Birmingham. I have made many new friends in the past couple of years thanks to Twitter and the Birmingham Bloggers group.
As well as technology, I also love music and present a radio show called The Big Paws on the wonderful Brum-based rhubarbradio.com and I'll be asking my listeners for ideas too.
