I am a retired Biology teacher with an enduring interest in my subject which I feel is both fascinating in its own right and has transformed human life over the past 150 years more than any other single discipline. I now work to help teachers convey my subject in a better way and engage young people, not easy in the age of the quick fix! My other passions are photography (but still mainly nature) and music, I play the guitar and sing.
It is of course Darwin200 and the square is famously full of pigeons, which Darwin had a lot to say about, so I wanted a Darwin theme. But, I also want to help people in Madagascar where I have friends and contacts who are struggling. SO, I am going to
a. Busk
b. Talk about the plight of the people of Marofandilia, Madagascar, a village which my wife, Ann, and I have vsited twice.
c. Talk about the importance of Madagascar for wildlife and its importance in terms of Evolution by Natural Selection as proposed by Darwin
d. Raise money (from my website) for the people and the forest
