I'm an artist and I've always been into Antony Gormley's work, in what it gives to people, how they respond, what they take away from it, so was keen to take part in this piece.
I've not decided what I will do with my hour. I think I'll partly respond to what others are doing. My first thought is to sit in meditation position with my eyes open and feel and observe London from this unique vantage point. Just be as still as possible in body and mind while being in the centre of London, but also slightly removed from it all. This will be interesting for me, to see what kind of things I feel and see, to take it in as an experience for me. But as I will be on display somewhat, it will be interesting for people to observe someone clearly (hopefully!) in a state of contemplation. Not something one sees in London very often. So some sort of juxtaposition against London's constant movement and impersonalisation. And maybe a reminder that we all need to take time to observe and feel, that the world doesn't just have constantly bombard us, that we can reclaim our space just by being still and quiet amidst the world.
But these are just first thoughts. I may decide to spend my hour in a different way.
