I've followed Antony Gormley's work for a few years and find a connection with it. I've always been interested in people and society, and to some extent research it for work (although I don't intend to use this experience for work). I'm also influenced by the paintings of Edward Hopper, LS Lowry and now John Brack (see my recent blogpost: http://mrt1m.wordpress.com/2009/05/31/images-from-my-childhood/). I'm a novice when it comes to art appreciation.
I like the idea of being a part of a piece of art. I'm also intrigued by the opportunity to connect with strangers in a confined space. Life if full of opportunities to do just this, but we rarely take them; e.g. lifts, queues, etc. I just want to maybe meet and greet a few people, sit and chat about where we're from, how we got here, and where we're going. If there are others who don't want to do that then fine. If there are people who want to orchestrate the situation or whatever, I'll probably just try to sit in the corner out of the way. I'll take a good book, just in case.
I'm looking forward to this. Thanks for the opportunity.
