About me

Poets should be at the risky edge... can't get much riskier than a plinth, I guess

I'm Crysse, and my plinthathon will be all about words - some of mine and some by others.

What an amazing chance to send messages to the world. Here's my first:

Happy Birthday Nelson Mandela!

  • Well Done Crysse! Bob Whitley

Fromesbury Group Poet (It's A Single Poet Thing)

    Giving workshops

    From plinth tops

    Near Red London Bus stops

    Only pausing for must stops

    Of water and chanters

    For waving and snapshots

    Of supporters and passers

    Blowing kisses not trumpets

    (.....Though no-one else will

    Perhaps megaphone diplomacy

    Would have been better still)...

    Living on edges

    Speaking from ledges

    Playing with words

    In columns and squares

    Grounded in ink

    Or free on the air

    Moving minds changing choices

    Expressing others' voices

    Not just pulling heart strings

    But single poet things

    With frock amp and headdress

    And style and grace too

    A female declaimer from

    Frome with a view

  • Crysse - you were a star, a wonderful mix of confidence and trepidation. The poetry was a great idea and enjoyable to listen to. And as for the outfit...!

  • Thanks to you all for your supportive comments - and Emma, I have a GREAT picture of your friends on the bus on my blog: http://crysse.blogspot.com/ - do tell them!

    Crysse

  • Thank you for waving at our friends wedding bus, Also I like your words now I hvae had the opportunity to listen to them.

    Congrats

  • Crysse you are a TRIP!!! How wonderful you are to do what you do in the world. We are all blessed to be touched by your bold willingness to live your life to the fullest. YOU GO G.I.R.L. (Goddess In Real Life)!! And thank you for making my poem 'Miracle' part of your spoken word art of living. I'm honored. Big love, Kevin

  • Brilliant 4th plinth session - the poetry was good and very enjoyable. I loved every minute of it.

p.s. On the Internet we could hear every word clearly!

  • O Miss Pride of Frome, O Miss Pride of Frome

How charming to see you with the power of the zoom.

    Powerful, pertinent, poignant and pithy

Proud in black and feathered and pretty.

My heart skipped a beat when you 'came to the edge'

but I knew you would fly with words wise and witty.

O Miss Pride of Frome, O Miss Pride of Frome

How brave to stand on the plinth and recite

Observing by internet was such fun - a delight!

Thank you Crysse for a fine performance! Well done.

    Your amp did not dampen.

    Lots of love Dulcie xxx

  • What grace! What courage! What poetry! What a great woman: Age shall not wither her nor custom stale her infinite variety and generosity. What a dress! What feathers. What flight!

    love Rosie xxx

  • Well done Crysse, bless your wee amp but we heard you fine online. Liked Jaspers adaption of R.M's 'Sometimes'. 'Look at them...' was good too.

'a startled cabbage patch doll' and 'casual senior' were moments that had me belly laughing. You did yourself proud............

  • Speak up

  • What an interesting person! And what great poetry! And who would know about her (I mean outside of her circle) if it hadn't been for this plinth project?

    Well done!

  • Was going to say, we in internet world can hear you loud and clear!

Really enjoying your hour, fantastic and inspiring words.

  • Well done!

By far the best Plinther so far

    *hugs

    Jen

  • I enjoyed your poems about being an older woman and not succumbing to the destruction of botox and negative ageist attitudes. Go girl, go! (Oh, and change your gym. There's no way I'd announce myself by anything other than my name, or, "gorgeous".

  • Pity about the amp - but the square is really noisy in the daytime.

But all us web-watchers got it fine and clear.

Good job ! Well done. Makes a big change from all the pasive observers - now they are really dull !

    Excellent choice of material, too

    Andy
